Valpak helps thousands of businesses grow sales and helps millions of consumers save money at their favorite local merchants.  We are seeking a high-energy, driven professional with sound business acumen, strong technical aptitude and natural sales instincts to join our team as a Sales Development Representative. Ideal candidates should be eager to advance in our organization by demonstrating their ability to be tenacious self-starters every day.  Note: the successful candidates will be working the second shift which is 11AM - 8PM.

 

GREAT, SO WHAT’S THE JOB?

The Sales Development Representative is responsible for responding to, following up with, processing and generating B2B leads for our local sales teams with a focus on moving leads through the sales pipeline. The right candidate for this position has to be passionate about the following:

  • Developing new prospects, qualifying following up with leads, and establishing appointments with customers primarily by phone, email and via Salesforce Chatter to increase sales of Valpak’s Direct Mail (eg, the Blue Envelope) and Digital (eg, Business Profile Pages, syndication, SEO, SEM, display/social, web sites) products and/or services.

This role involves a high degree of collaboration and interaction with executives, internal corporate stakeholders, and franchise owners and staff. The right person has confidence in their communication skills and ability to move a lead and opportunity through the sales pipeline process.

 

NO REALLY, WHAT WOULD I DO?  A successful Sales Development Representative would:

 

  • Conduct inbound lead qualification, appointment setting, and outbound prospecting
  • Qualify large amounts of inbound leads as sales opportunities via follow-up calls and emails, & cold calls
  • Achieve quarterly quotas in support of field sales efforts in building a sales pipeline, helping foster deal closings, and ensuring lead goals are met
  • Set up meetings/appointments or calls between (prospective) clients & local markets as appropriate
  • Research accounts, identify key players, conduct prospect client analysis, generate interest, and qualify leads as part of the selling process 
  • Stay up-to-date with new Valpak products/services and new pricing/promotional programs
  • Report daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly lead qualification, appointment setting & contact results
  • Accurately track and record customer communications, prospect/client needs, and conversation activity in Salesforce.com

Qualifications

SO WHAT KIND OF FOLKS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

We’re looking for awesome, detail orientated, proactive self-starters. Bonus points if you have direct sales skills, but not a requirement.  In a nutshell, we’re looking for people with the following experience and skillsets:

  • 1-2 years professional sales (inside or outside sales) or sales development experience, ideally in digital media or traditional advertising
  • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred
  • Proven work experience as a Business Development Representative, Sales Account Executive or similar role with a proven track record of over-achieving quota goals
  • Hands-on experience with multiple sales techniques (including cold calls)
  • Persuasive, strong phone presence and experience dialing dozens of calls per day with a polished telephone manner (excellent customer-facing verbal, listening & written communication skills)
  • Strong internal motivation with entrepreneurial drive and a creative thinker
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Experience working with Salesforce.com (or similar CRM) and MS Office Suite strongly preferred
