Responsibilities

Summary:      

With minimal supervision, is responsible for the creative and continuous improvement of the design, installation, operation and management of the Valpak Data Network. Includes LAN, WAN, VPN, Internet connectivity, security, and all other network related systems operating at CTM. Responsible for self-managing trouble tickets and other outages or performance issues. Responsible for managing and participating in projects, and guiding the activities of others related to projects and problem resolution. Responsible for keeping skills and industry / technical knowledge current.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Oversees the daily operation of the Valpak Data Network (VDN) by guiding daily activities of Network Engineers and Specialists through establishing and maintaining network related policies and procedures. Oversees and assists Network Engineers and Specialists in all system configuration, troubleshooting, problem resolution, and maintenance of VDN documentation. After hours support required.
  2. Continually review network configuration, and equipment for opportunities to tune and increase network performance.
  3. Ability to work directly with ITSS customers, both Corporate and Franchise, related to projects, trouble resolution, or other needs. Must possess strong interpersonal skills, be seen as a strong team member and team leader. Promotes the value and good will of ITSS to all customers.    
  4. Develops specifications and designs related to the need for future additions or modifications to the VDN.
  5. Communicates business needs to key company personnel
  6. Evaluates new software and hardware products for effectiveness and compatibility with the VDN. Organizes and manages the installation of new hardware, software, and services into the VDN.  
  7. Develops reports and makes presentations as needed, and stays informed of latest communication and network system advancements.
  8. Manages relationships with outside vendors for evaluation and purchasing of new hardware and software. Also for maintenance of existing hardware, software, or services in the VDN.
  9. Visit franchise or Valpak remote offices, which will require periodic travel as needed.
  10. Performs related work and additional duties as needed or required.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

Minimum 8 years’ experience in an operational enterprise class (500 users or more) network environment required (OR AA Degree in Business or Computer Technology plus 7 years’ experience), specializing in Cisco LAN/WAN design and installation. Project management experience helpful.

  • Strong VOIP skills
