We’re looking for a driven individual to be the main driver of a new sales initiative at SKUlocal. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in building a business from the ground up with the backing and resources of a large company. This is primarily a “hunter” role, focused on securing new relationships in the national retail and department store sector for the SKUlocal (formerly Cox Target Media) solution set, including: Targeted Print, Social Influencer and Digital Promotion network businesses. With success will come the opportunity to build and mange a team. If you are a results-oriented, have a good consultative selling approach, and are effective working in a dynamic environment with lots of room for independent decision making then the sky is the limit.  


  • Use existing relationships and previous experience develop new business relative to targeted print programs/circulars, targeted direct mail and digital promotion campaigns within the national retail and department store sectors.
  • Drive the sales cycle from needs analysis, program and presentation development, and sales with prospective accounts.
  • Develop and present consultative client-specific marketing plans for execution. Create and deliver powerful and persuasive presentations to key decision makers utilizing the entire Valpak/ portfolio of products to provide integrated marketing solutions.
  • Quickly develop thorough knowledge of company products/services for both existing and new products and services as developed.
  • Position requires travel to support the above responsibilities.
  • Perform related work and additional duties as needed or required.


  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Business, Marketing, Advertising or related field;
  • 8 years direct sales experience within the national retail or department store space.
  • Must have a proven track record of developing new business, preferably in the newspaper preprint, direct mail, and/or related marketing services segments, focused on the national retail sector industry.
  • Must have significant contacts within the target industries and media agencies that determine budget allocation.
  • Must be able to understand client marketing goals, allocation of spend across print and digital, and solution sell accordingly. 
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of the industry. Newspaper preprint experience a plus.
  • Resourceful and self-motivated. Adept at matching the solution to identified client needs.
  • Strong computer skills including PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
