MARKETING RESEARCH ANALYST

 

Valpak needs to fill an experienced marketing research analyst position to support clients across an array of industries as well as the Valpak brand. This role thrives in a fast paced, dynamic sales environment and is rewarded with diverse daily assignments. It’s largely self-directed and you’re empowered to manage your workday as needed to get the job done!

 

GREAT, SO WHAT’S THE JOB?

 

Valpak’s full service marketing research team creates compelling narratives from multiple data sets and is seeking an additional teammate with innate curiosities who similarly enjoys explaining why something happened. The analyst will interpret primary and syndicated research data – for example, direct mail ad campaign results, segmentation analysis, survey findings or an emerging competitor development – to develop easily digestible insights.

 

This position is for a highly-skilled, experienced analyst who likes to learn, wants to share and will:

  • Create powerful data-based stories
  • Find critical key insights for sales and other stakeholders
  • Identify brand opportunities
  • Interface with executives and sales teams as a marketing research subject matter expert
  • Work well within a team and bring prior analytical experiences for team development
  • Apply various research methods to large sales opportunities and adapt traditional targeting and analytical methodologies with the retail, grocery and CPG/OTC verticals

 

The role involves a high degree of interaction and collaboration with other Valpak functional areas.  We’re a friendly, supportive, hard working group that balances routine work assignments with a variety of ad hoc analyses.

 

NO REALLY, WHAT WOULD I DO?  A successful marketing research analyst will:

 

  • Design direct mail ad campaigns, including targeting recommendations and zone selection
  • Conduct post analyses of those direct mail ad campaigns and develop recommendations for future enhancements
  • Manage qualitative and quantitative primary research programs to support the brand’s print and digital portfolio
  • Provide media competitive analyses, for traditional direct mail and the digital front, with strategic brand implications
  • Act as a sales channel consultative partner to develop research-based methodologies which grow revenue
  • Work with a wide-ranging group of advertiser categories, from dining and entertainment to home services and emerging ecommerce companies

Qualifications

WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

 

We’re in search of an experienced analyst who can crunch numbers and tell stories. Bonus points if you have retail and CPG media buying or measurement experiences, but those are not requirements.

 

So to summarize, the right person will have market research experience and offer the following skills:

  •  Critical thinking to solve complex problems, individually and with teammates
  • Strong in-person and telephonic presentation skills
  • Be a trusted, strategic research expert whose not afraid to discuss the benefits and downsides
  • High marketing/business acumen and the ability to communicate research methodologies in a easy to understand manner to non-researchers
  • Can evaluate client-supplied results data for practical insights and future applications
  • Experience with leading syndicated resources such as Claritas demographics, comScore, eMarketer, PRIZM, Simmons, & Scarborough
  • Advanced Excel skills, SPSS a plus
